Short Biography on Yoshitaka Miura

Yoshitaka Miura is the eldest of Katsuhiro Miura’s two sons. Possessing an artisan’s touch, Yoshitaka proved himself worthy of the number 2 chair in the grinding line, ensuring the Miura Legacy was in great hands.

Since entering the business in 1992, Yoshitaka Miura has designed and produced equipment worthy of carrying the Miura family name. Committed to perfecting the manufacturing process and mastering his craft. After graduating from university, Yoshitaka joined Miura Giken and immediately took a key position on the grinding line beside his father. He dedicated himself to mastering his craft and soon welcomed his younger brother, Shinei, to the business.

In 2006, Yoshitaka became the General Manager of Miura Giken, continuing to refine his grinding skills despite increased responsibilities. With his brother Shinei, Yoshitaka pushed the envelope in design, leading to the successful creation of the CB-1006 club head, the first produced without their father’s involvement. This success gave their father confidence in their abilities to produce irons worthy of the Miura name. When Miura-san stepped down as President in 2010, he appointed Shinei as President and Yoshitaka to oversee the manufacturing process, recognizing their individual strengths.

The Origin and Features

Taking its name from Yoshitaka Miura's first initial, the Y Grind features a subtle heel and toe relief that complements the softer leading edge grind. This design ensures superior turf interaction and shot-making capabilities, allowing golfers to control the ball effectively. The Y Grind provides enough versatility for golfers to manipulate the club face and play shots from various lies without affecting the bounce angle of the club. Yoshitaka Miura emphasizes that the Y Grind is not just about the sole doing the work; it’s about how the golfer perceives and addresses the ball. The Y Grind ensures the club head rests in the ideal position, boosting the golfer's confidence to aim precisely at the target.
