Miura Unveils New Irons For Mid- And High-Handicap Golfers

When Howard Milstein partnered with Miura Golf last year to distribute the Japanese company’s premium forged irons in the U.S. market, one of his intended goals was to make the clubs more widely available to a broader range of golfers.

Miura has now introduced its IC-601 series, which was created by Miura founder Katsuhiro Miura and is designed for mid- to high-handicap golfers. While Miura has long been known as a niche brand for better players – Miura first began hand-crafting and grinding irons in 1957 -- the company’s offerings are being expanded to serve players of all levels. Miura President Hoyt McGarity says Katsuhiro Miura integrated innovative technology with traditional design to create an iron that’s “higher, longer and more forgiving than any other in the Miura lineup.” The irons are made of 455 Carpenter Steel, which is used in aerospace applications because it offers a unique combination of high strength, light weight and durability. The clubs have a distinctive and clean look with the single weight in the middle of the back of the club head. With more weight strategically moved back, players are able to launch the ball higher with increased ball speeds. In addition to a low center of gravity, the IC-601 features an inner cavity design with a wide sole that’s designed to create added forgiveness and a larger sweet spot.
